A self-care routine is not complete without a bath bomb! Although it is cliché, no one can deny the fun that throwing in a bath bomb can make for any bathtime. In 1989, Mo Constantine was inspired by Alka-Seltzer tablets to create these cool, fizzy tablets, which we now commonly call bath bombs. (Thank you, Constantine!) Today, these come in all colors, shapes, and sizes to make bathtime special.
Bath bombs not only make bathtime a fun experience, but bath bombs have other benefits too!
Benefits for the Skin
Bath bombs help to moisturize and soften your skin by adding emollients and softeners to the bath water. The agents added to the bath water from the bath bomb will not only cleanse your skin, but will leave your skin feeling silky smooth with its moisturizing and softening properties.
Healing Properties
Bath bombs are made of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid, which are responsible for the fizzing that we all know and love. (In case you are curious, here is the scientific formula for the fizzing: 5H7O5CO2H (aq.) + NaHCO3 (aq.) → C5H7O5CO2−Na+(aq.) + H2O(l) + CO2 (g) .) Bath bombs repair skin and strengthen blood vessels, which in turn create healthier skin.
Aromatherapy
When talking about bath bombs, one cannot leave out the aroma! Bath bombs leave your bathroom smelling heavenly and stay on the skin for prolonged periods of time to leave you feeling (and smelling) good all day.
Here are some of our favorites!
