In a previous article regarding acne, we discussed in-depth the various causes and types of acne. Acne is said to be caused by the production of excess oil, clogged hair follicles, bacteria, and inflammation. Unclogging pores and preventing inflammation can all be done to prevent acne through cleansing.
We cannot stress this enough: Cleansing 👏 is 👏 an👏 essential👏 part👏 of👏 any👏 skincare routine!👏 As we just read above, cleansing can really help to prevent acne at the core. If you have acne-prone skin, this is the article for you! Today, we have chosen our favorite six cleansers to help you get rid of and prevent breakouts! Here we go!
Cleanse Twice a Day
Cleansing too often is actually bad for you! Your skin needs natural oils to be healthy. Cleansing too much can cause the necessary oils to be stripped away from your face, which can cause other skin problems. Cleansing in the morning not only is a refreshing way to start the day, but it also gets rid of all the dead skin cells, sebum, oils, and toxins secreted by the skin overnight. Cleansing will allow for the skin to have a fresh surface for your AM skin products. After going about your day, do not forget to cleanse your face at night! Cleansing your face is crucial in the evening because your face accumulates dirt, dead skin cells, excess sebum, bacteria, and other things that can lead to the clogging of pores and acne. Not only that, these can cause inflammation and a weakened skin barrier, which can also cause a breakout.
Cleansing Water Temperature
Despite popular belief, using cold water to cleanse and hot water to steam for the closing and opening of pores is detrimental to the face. Pores are not doors, they do not open or close. (Sorry, pores don’t shrink in size when you use a certain temper of water either.) Instead, using lukewarm water is the best way to cleanse your face.
Moisturize Your Skin
Contrary to what many people say, acne-prone skin needs moisturization after cleansing. If skin is not hydrated, more oil and sebum can be produced to cause more breakouts. If you need help looking for the perfect skincare regime for your acne-prone skin, read our previous article here!
TL;DR: Cleansing. We cannot emphasize enough just how important it is for preventing and getting rid of acne. We gave our top six favorite cleansers for those with acne-prone skin in this article.
