Summer Skincare Do’s and Don’ts!

by Abby C. on June 22, 2022
With the official day of summer being this week, we want to kick off the summer with an article that will get you ready for the hot summer! This week, we have a special cheat sheet for your summer skincare, because we all know how confusing it can get. We hope that this cheat sheet will help everyone from those who just starting out!

Don’t : Apply your SPF just once a day before leaving the house
Do : Apply SPF every few hours allowing for long lasting protection against harmful UV rays

We are obsessed with PH Hubby’s series of 1 gram sunscreen and you will be too, if you are not already. They come in little portable packets, which you can take around easily to reapply throughout the day and the best part is, it is already pre measured to be the scientifically right amount of SPF!
Don’t : Use harsh exfoliating scrubs
Do : Use a gentle cleanser

As much as scrubs can be sometimes fun and refreshing to use, they are not recommended for the summer time. Exfoliating scrubs can increase sun sensitivity by 45% due to the removal of dead skin cells and protective layers of the skin, making it more dangerous for the skin when it is exposed to sunlight. That is why we recommend The Potions Cica Acne Gentle Facial Cleanser, which gently gets rid of the dead skin cells and impurities while soothing and calming the skin, making it the perfect cleanser after a fun day in the sun.
Don’t : Use toners containing alcohol
Do : Go for an alcohol-free toner

Using a toner is important in the summertime. The skin produces more oil and sebum due to the increased heat during the summer. This means that this can cause problems for the pores and leaves the skin more open to collecting dirt and oils. Using a toner can help during the summer months to keep the skin hydrated and healthy. Most toners contain alcohol, which can cause the skin to dry out. Skin1004’s Madagascar Centella Toning Toner does not contain alcohol and soothes the skin with high levels of centella.
Don’t : Use a thick moisturizer
Do : Go for thin moisturizers

Skip that thick moisturizer and go for a thinner one! Not using a moisturizer can make your skin oily during the summer due to the body increasing the production of sebum to protect the skin from getting dry. Unlike the winter, using a thick moisturizer is not recommended during the summer as it can trap unwanted sweat and dirt to cause breakouts. Why not try using the Green Tea Water Bomb from Bonajour? It applies thin while still providing the skin with deep hydration.
Don’t : Use lots of makeup
Do : Use thin makeup with SPF

We all know how fun it is to wear lots of makeup before going out. But think again before doing that during the summer. Wearing lots of makeup during the summer can clog up pores, which can cause inflammation and breakouts. That is why we recommend the Tone Up Sunblock from Adoreblanc, which helps to provide minimalistic coverage, preventing the clogging of pores while creating flawless skin.

Are you ready for the summer? We think you are now! Enjoy your hot girl summer and look flawless while you do with all your faves and more from Coréelle!
